SMALL WOODLAND FRONT YARD, PALO ALTO
This classic A Frame wood siding home in the University district needed an uplift to not only the front yard, but also to the front of the house. We added a sturdy but artfully decorative redwood arbor and posts to tie the front overhang to the ground at the entrance, where the overhang had previously seemed airborne. The front yard was then fenced in to to give the family more private outdoor living and gardening space, as it had previously been "given away" to the street. The front gate and arbor mirror the same architectural details as the house. In addition, there is a seating patio, surrounded by a raised herb and flower bed, creating a very intimate and functional outdoor room, amongst maples and woodland shrubs.
